How to look for ores easier (not what you might think)

That's me again, the one who is making a server, and now we are getting started with changing plutons rarity and now we need to make them more sparse. To find the ores, I downloaded the Xray, but it didn't work - i was seein only the plutons touching air. What should I do to find the deposits easy?
